All associated with BBI will work towards enhancing learning by ensuring each student has access to an appropriate curriculum, is engaged in the learning process, and develops as a confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learner.

In order to optimise opportunities for students and teachers to achieve highly, it is essential appropriate structures that best support quality teaching and learning are in place.

C. Physical and Financial Resources to Support Learning Outcomes

In order for students and teachers to achieve highly, it is essential that the physical, financial and structural resources that best support curriculum goals be provided.

Objectives

A. Student Progress and Achievement

  1. Reading, Writing and Mathematics levels will be raised school wide.
  2. Students will be confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learners.
  3. Every student will experience success.
  4. The school is committed to a constructivist inquiry based approach to learning.
  5. Students will become proficient in using a range of technologies to access, process and communicate their learning.
  6. Students will understand their role as citizens of a global society.
  7. Outcomes for Maori students will be optimised.

B. Quality Teaching and Learning

  1. Our school culture will attract, retain and develop quality teachers and support staff.
  2. Staff will recognise the need for continuing professional development that promotes personal growth.
  3. Excellence in learning will be recognised and celebrated.
  4. The school’s environment will promote learning.
  5. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) will be aligned with the New Zealand curriculum.
  6. The BBI curriculum document will be updated annually in line with our goals.

C. Physical and Financial Resources to Support Learning Outcomes

  1. Priority will be given to providing resources that support learning.
  2. Physical resources will be provided to support curriculum goals.
  3. A stimulating and aesthetically inviting safe school environment will be maintained.
  4. Appropriate infrastructure technologies will be provided to enrich learning across the curriculum.
  5. Resources will be provided that support and challenge the specific age group of the students.
