In learning to use the industry standard program Adobe Photoshop, students are able to espress themselves using image manipulation, layering techniques, special effects in ways they could not using traditional tools. Students also are made more aware of the potential for misleading imagery and advertising and develop discernment in the world of digitally enhanced media.

Commercial
This ad was the culmination of an inquiry unit looking into consumerism in year 8. The movie was created using iMovie, part of the iLife suite of applications on Apple machines. Students at BBI are skilled in the production and editing of films, and are able to create very high quality creations as alternative means of presenting their learning.
MADE Awards 09 Y7-8 Commercial - 1st place
Stop Animation
While less used now with the emergence of CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) in movies like Toy Story, most animation was previously created by combining a series of still images with movement manually caused between frames. Students have created impressive movies using this technique, moving an object like a Lego man a little bit, taking a photo and then moving it a bit more.
The following movie was created to be shown before the morning news broadcast around the school. If you have a slower internet connection you may have to wait a while for it to fully load.
Documentary
Students created their story/ documentary 'Challenge With A Difference' as the result of an inquiry into sustainability, empathising with the plight of homeless people and raising awareness of how we can best support people out of difficult situations.

Green screen video
Very recently students have started experimenting with a technique widely used in the movie industry where the background of a video shoot (often a green or blue screen) is removed and replaced by something else, to give the impression of the foreground being somewhere it ordinarily could not be, or may be hard to shoot in location.
The following movies are a combination of layered video and stop animation created by students.
