BBI prides itself on being a top sporting school. We promote participation and encourage excellence in all sporting areas. We believe that sport and physical education not only improves physical fitness and academic performance, but also improves children’s overall health and well-being. 

 

BBI offers a vast number of sports both competitive and non-competitive to Year 7 and Year 8 students. We are very lucky to have a number of dedicated sports staff, coaches, managers, and parents who devote time and expertise to ensure that our students receive the best training and have positive and rewarding experiences.

Classroom Shield Competition - Lunchtime Sport

All classrooms participate in a Year 7 and Year 8 Shield Challenge. Shields are won when competing in a variety of competitions such as; dodgeball, cricket, netball, tug of war and softball. All points won, contribute towards the hotly contested House Cup. 





 

South Eastern Zone Sport

 

BBI is a member of the South Eastern Zone competition. We participate in the following sporting events:

These BBI teams play in various competitions outside of schools hours:

 

  • Netball - Terms 2 & 3 (Auckland Courts and HPNC)

  • Basketball - Terms 2 & 3 (Pakuranga College / Howick Leisure Centre) 

  • Mountain Biking - Terms 1, 2 & 3 - (various locations)


 

AIMS Games 

The Zespri AIMS Games is the biggest sporting event for Intermediate aged school children in the Southern Hemisphere. AIMS Games gives 11, 12 and 13 year olds an opportunity to compete as individuals or a team in 23 codes. AIMS Games is held in the Bay of Plenty every year. All sports events are superbly organised and run to a very high standard.

Trials and meetings for AIMS sports will take place throughout the year. A parent information evening will be held later this term. For further information please visit the AIMS website or Facebook page.
